Holding the A button for hours and hours just to make the text move faster is one of the tradeoffs to playing an RPG from 1991. The payoff is some weird ass ideas like the whole transformation system where you make your protagonists slurp down fetid monster meat and uhh jam robot parts into themselves to morph from Humans to Beasts, Monsters, Cyborgs, and Robots. Each form has different ways their stats behave and moves they unlock. My favorite was the Robot which gets permanent stat upgrades mainly from pills you can purchase from vendors. After an hour of grinding and popping amphetamines my Arthur-bot was clapping cheeks with fully maxed endgame stats in the early midgame. Yes! Sadly while it's a cool idea it's a bit scuffed in practice. Switching between the forms is a little tedious in that it requires the aforementioned "meat" and "parts" which are random drops off enemies. Plus when each of these transformations has a bunch of different forms which are tied to your level. Oh you like your current Monster form with it's AOE spell? Well say buh-bye when you get another 100 exp brother because that shit is GONE. It feels like a mechanic for experimentation when you're bored rather than something useful you have full control over.

What else is there to mention? Not much. The story I didn't really follow as my mind descended to that semi-conscious haze-state it inhabits when playing old-school turn-based RPGs replete with grinding. I think you travel through time and your dad is a fighter jet? Yeah, I think that's what happened. Anyway we saved the world and I got to see some spiff sprite art (1 2 3) and listen to some banging tunes so as much as the whole experience was middling I meddled with it to the end nonetheless.
