Review

To this day still the best Pokemon ever made in my opinion. And perhaps the best sequel to a game ever made as well actually. A sequel can go a bunch of different ways but the two best things they can do is A) improve the existing systems or B) keep the existing systems but expand them. Silver/Gold did both.

They improved and added systems like adding a Day/Night cycle which was so COOL-- booting up the game at night to see which new Pokemon you'd see--, they split up the Special stat into Atk/Def, they added breeding, different ways to evolve Pokemon like via Friendship (newly added), and Shiny Pokemon which I actually had no idea were added because I never saw one lol.

Not only that but they effectively doubled the content but first doubling the number of Pokemon, removing none in the process. And then after you finished the main campaign and beat the Elite Four they were like "Oh wait-- you can actually take a boat to go back to the fucking OLD world and play through THAT whole thing again." I must have shit my pants when I realized I could do that. And you know they never did anything like that again. Not only that they started removing Pokemon as the series went on.

Oh man and they added my favorite Pokemon Tyranitar.

These games had it all and I loved them. One thing I'd honestly like to do is play SoulSilver and see if I can get all 300 Pokemon. Because I caught all 150 in Red which was very challenging and I got well into the 200s with Silver but couldn't ever fucking find a Remorraid for some reason lol.
