Review

Writing this a month after the fact so let's see how closely I can remember things.

This game is basically a more budget Breath of the Wild. Budget is probably wrong because I'm sure this had a huge budget. I mean it's gorgeous, it's got great voice acting, and plays pretty well. It's probably more accurate to say it's just a "rougher" BOTW. While it has its own charms and unique features, the gameplay and flow are not nearly as inspirational and novel, as cohesive or delightful as BOTW. But I mean that's comparing it to a game that's for many people one of the greatest games in recent memory and, for some, all time. So even in coming close to it it's a welcome new game.

It's a big ass beautiful world. I mean really it's gorgeous especially because unlike BOTW you can play this on a PC with a crazy resolution on 2080Ti like me. It's got the climbing and gliding of BOTW. It's got shrines that you finish that increase your stats. Most of the things are similar.

The world has the Ubisoft collectathon thing going on which initially I was into but then after I dunno 8 hours wore thing as per usual. The combat is actually pretty entertaining.

I actually liked the lore and story and characters. Basically you can do the game in a kind of open-ended order (again, like BOTW) where you pick a god and do quests for them to release them from their shackled form. I really enjoyed Aphrodite's story where she basically is restrained to become a good person. The story is basically about her discovering that being an obnoxious, condescending, hot chick is actually a good thing and the world needs people like her.

Oh-- and it's actually pretty funny! I laughed a fair amount. Honestly it's not a MUST PLAY game but if you want more BOTW goodness it's a really good way to spend 20 hours or whatever.
