Don't listen to the haters. Just like Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 is a messy clusterfuck of a great game in co-op. Honestly I enjoy both 5 and 6 solo but it's in co-op where all the batshit chicanery emulsifies into the sublime. It's the difference between watching Tommy Wiseau's The Room with a group of friends cracking jokes the whole time vs watching it by yourself occasionally chuckling. Everything in this game is turned up to 11 and is fully in Resident Evil bullshit mode. It has seemingly every Resident Evil character ever, each one controlling and handling differently in classic Capcom style (they even have their own UIs!!). We got a regular ol' boss who shows up fucking 20 times in the Ustanak, that of course can only be defeated by--drumroll please--Wesker's son! We've got motorcycles jumping helicopters and jets crashing into bridges and everything in between. This is Capcom just throwing huge amounts of money and turning it into a buffet of Resident Evil brand melodrama and fun.

Sure, it has problems. It's length leads to it being baggy at certain points and some campaigns are absolutely better than others. But few games dare dream this big and Resident Evil itself hasn't dared dream this big since, with RE7's stolid trad-horror approach and RE:Village's "very competent but still firmly sitting in the shadow of RE4" gameplay. Capcom is currently very much in a Give The People What They Want mode with the new Monster Hunter, RE4 remake, and even Dragon's Dogma 2 being evidence of this. Fuck the people! Give us torrents of obscene, over-the-top trash like this! MORE MORE MORE! Because for my money I had more fun playing RE6 than RE7 or RE8. Even if--especially because--it took me and my friend several months to play it together in person due to its absurd length.
