Review

A wonderfully weird title that's a mashup between an RTS and a third person action game. You take the role of Eldred a spellcaster whisked away to an unknown world. There's some sort of prophecy from a blind seer, Mithras, about an evil dude who you have to stop. You entreat the help of the local gods to help you and they ask you to carry out missions for them to curry favor. Notably Tim Curry is the god of death, Charnel. All the voice acting is wonderful as I recall.

The style of the game is very grotesque and otherworldly and as a result super cool and original. For it's day I think it was a bit of a marvel to behold as you had these big 3D worlds and well modeled monsters.

The gameplay was fun too. You have various spells at your disposal and you can also summon a small army of creatures to fight for you as you move across these worlds to accomplish your missions. Often times these involve you fighting other wizards and their minions. One of the cool things is as you play through the campaign you can choose to work for different gods at different points and at each point you unlock a new creature from the god you're currently working for. Which means you end up with a patchwork army comprised of different creature types. Very cool.

The story was solid but the gameplay I think still stands out as very original and fun to this day.
