Black Mesa

While I played Half-Life back in the day on PS2, I never finished it. And wow I'm glad I played this. They really did a stellar job bringing it up to the modern era. I won't go into the details here because everyone knows Half-Life but for me the coolness was getting the full origin story of Gordon Freeman after I already had played Half-Life 2. I also forgot how much of an old school shooter it is. You're sprinting and shooting people most of the time. There's also some puzzles sure but thankfully none of them were too frustrating. I think I had to look up one maybe two.

I loved seeing the origin of the Vortiguants. It's very cool seeing them develop from nameless alien invaders you have to murder to finding out they're actually a subjugated race on their home planet. It was so cool when the big brain mind control boys show up and I tried killing the brains instead of the Vortigaunts and it actually released them. Very cool.

Xen was also gorgeous. The sheer scare of the Nihilanth was very, very cool as well.

Overall great time.
