Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Review
Oof. A series has got to start somewhere and Uncharted did a really cool thing which is start with what amounts today to a mediocre game and with each title make them successively better till they got to 4 which is one of my favorite games.
This one has a mildly interesting story with some weird BS with like zombies (???) that sets the tone for some of the weird scifi stuff that shows up later in the story.
The gameplay is rough. WAY too many enemies. And shooting is just not that fun. Level design is super rough and you end up getting stuck at plenty of parts. End boss fight is nauseautingly annoying where you get one shotted if you don't do the exact right thing.
In the end though they introduce you to the cast of characters, Nathan Drake, Victor Sullivan, and Elena Fisher. The banter between them is fun and this game really sets up the rest of the series. I'm happy I played it for the context it provides and the nice foil it provides against the highs of later entries compared to the lows here.
