MechWarrior 4: Vengeance

I'll be honest it's been 20 years since I played one of these. I had to actually look at screenshots online to discern which of these MechWarrior games I had actually played. Really it was the box art. "Why, yes, I have played MechWarrior 4: Vengeance, Black Knight, and Mercenaries."
So what do I actually remember? Not much. I remember them being pretty complicated for how young I was. I remember using my dad's HOTAS controller. I remember the little icons for the diffferent types of weapons and wanting to always jam the biggest, baddest looking weapons on every mech I had. I remember having a lot of fun.
Sadly I can't really delineate any of these experiences from one game or another. I remember Black Knight had a cool specific mech you could get with a skullface or something. And maybe it had a big gun. And maybe Mercenaries had some sort of repeating quest line stuff where you did mercenary missions. Maybe not.
All I can say is these are cherished games. And no I won't go back and play them. But they rule all the same.
