Ori and the Blind Forest
Review
One of the best intros I’ve witnessed in a while. So much pathos. It’s like Bambi all over again. Not ashamed to admit I cried. Thank god Naru comes back and lives happily ever after.
Really beautiful game. Lovely art. Ori is so cute. The noise he makes when coming out of the water is chef's kiss kawaii.
But wow is it really hard. The whole thing has some pretty challenging platforming but the "escape" sections at the end of each dungeon were brutal. Literally you have to platform through some intense situations with a limit and you can't save. And they last like 60 seconds. Of non-stop difficult platforming with time pressure. While really great if that's what you're looking for... I either wasn't or just in general am not looking for this type of gameplay so that soured this game a bit for me.
But you know after beating them I'm kind of proud of myself for perservering till I could complete them. So yeah a well-designed game in that regard. Only a couple places I can look back and be like "yeah that was bullshit".
Overall definitely worth a playthrough. I hear the sequel has changeable difficulty which I am 100% in favor of.
