Everybody’s Golf

I adored Hot Shots Golf on the PSP. And this is basically Hot Shots Golf but on the PS4. And somehow it just didn't click. Maybe it's because the cute chibi avatars in the transition to the PS4 generation have morphed into Mii-ass, uncanny-valley, wretches. I mean seriously they're neither anime nor actual humans but something else. I loathe them... Or maybe it's because I'm in my 30s and the grind for all the stats and clubs and plaid pants is draining for me. I will say the core golf game is still great and I love it. But all the rest of the "game" around it ain't none too bueno if you ask me.

It's Hot Shots Golf but on PS4. The core golf game is fantastic. The problem is 1) The character models look like shit. I mean the chibi thing was cute but now they have almost this Mii-esque aesthetic. Very uncanny valley. They're not anime but they're not real people...they're off.
Then the grind begins. And you know what I'm sure Hot Shots Golf had this same exact grind too but I was young and didn't care. But this time I'm like oh FUCK this is too much. You just do course, after course, after course, after course to slowly rank up. And while you're ranking up your character you are also ranking up stats on every. single. one. of your clubs. All of them have stats and each one levels up independently. What starts as a wonderful sim turns into an insane grind.

So yeah I think I'm putting this one back on the shelf. No thanks.
