Far Cry 2

Some people rant and rave about this being the best Far Cry. Those people are wrong. It is a very fun Far Cry. And it did introduce some very cool mechanics like weapon degradation and the environmental stuff like wildfires. But it was also rife with annoyances. Both of those previously mentioned features got kind of annoying, especially having to perpetually clean your gun. Plus you had infinitely spawning packs of enemies that would hunt you down. While at first the frenetic energy of perpetually being hunted was kind of cool, it very quickly devolved into monotony and tedium.

It also, as far as I can recall, lacked much of a story at all. I'd say this was a good playground to try out new ideas, and was a fun game to start. But it's not a great game by any means.
