Review

It's Halo dontcha know?

This is the second 343 Studios Halo. 4 was alright and actually this one might be better. It's got more variety and more big open battles in vehicles. Or at least that's what it felt like. I really, really got bored of shooting those robot guys from 4 and this one they split it a lot more evenly with a lot of fighting with the Covenant. That made me enjoy it a lot more.

The interesting thing in this one is the fact that the story makes basically 0 sense. I think they wanted people to consume all sorts of the alternate media in the universe. So even though me and Sam played all the Halo games (and fairly recently!) we had basically no idea what was going on. They bring characters out and act like you should know who they are (I'm thinking specifically of that cunt in the old school aviator jacket and hat who shows up in a hologram on the Infinity). It's incredibly dumb and takes a lot out of the game.

The other big thing they fucked up immensely was no local coop. A mainstay of the entire Halo series. I legit bought an xbox to play this game, brought it over to Ross and Sam's, sat down to do coop and it just wasn't possible. Incredible miss.

In the end it was an alright romp. I'm interested to see where the series goes. After the last couple of low notes I hope it can only go up.
