Devil May Cry (2001)
Review
I could write a lot about this game as it was one of the ones I was most obsessed with as a kid. I mean come on, a handsome half demon badass who rides a motorcycle and has long white hair and two guns and a giant sword. Helllll yeah.
It helped that the gameplay was phenomenal and just as stylish to match the stylish main character. Getting good at the combat, combo-ing monsters to get higher and higher ratings like B rutal, A wesome, and S tylish (or whatever the hell they were).
The story and dialogue was cheesy, B movie schlock, classic for this era of videogames coming out of Japan like Resident Evil. Looking back it was actually pretty cringe but also still pretty cool.
I original had this at a 9 but I'm subjectively bumping it up for nostalgia. If I had to ding it however I'd say it got repetitive in parts. It's also brutally hard. I remember going back to this one or number 3 and just not being able to beat the final boss. The fact that I beat both as a kid is wild to me.
Either way this series will always hold a special place in my heart.
