Final Fantasy XV
Review
I wish I had written this review when I first finished the game. At this point there are holes in my mind for what the story was. I think part of that is because of how impenetrable and hard to understand the story was. This is a flaw that is well documented in numerous reviews by other people.
I think it's strengths are the initial open world part. It is truly a gorgeous world. And setting out with the boys in the car is a very novel experience from other games. The music is great. Some heart wrenching stuff in the main theme but also I adore the music for the beach front area. They do this little thing where they play this song with like an acoustic guitar and bongos or something and then when you walk in the hotel, seamlessly, they transition the same song with the same note to an arrangement with a piano and an upright bass. Acoustic -> jazz in real-time. It's wonderful.
The combat is pretty lackluster. It's hack and slash and honestly gets very old and doesn't feel balanced the whole way through. Enemies are boring.
The story while all over the place did really grip me at the end. It's such a tremendous downer and Noctus' sacrifice really hit me. I just wish I understand at all why it had to happen because the purpose of the antagonist makes 0 sense to me. And I watched the freaking movie and anime.
Any way it's a tremendous mess of a game and I think worth checking out.
