In 2005 sitting on the bus to go snowboarding in high school it was mind blowing and thrilling to be playing a full-fat GTA in the palm of your hand. Twenty years later, after that banging intro theme ends and I realized I had hours of old-school GTA's frustrating mission design and the smeary visuals of GTA running on a PSP, I knew this was a no-go. Hey, at least it's dated better than Chinatown Wars on the DS [loud fart noise].

WIP
The bus ride I took to go snowboarding in high school had many marvels for teenage me as kids brought their myriad toys and trinkets to entertain themselves on the 45 minute drive. Sure my mind was blown at my first exposure to Bose noise-cancelling headphones but the real pièce de résistance was a PSP with Grand Theft Auto on it. See back in 2005 Grand Theft Auto was THE game and we had just come off combo of III to Vice City to San Andreas.

Low key banging music in the intro.
It's funny I get behind the wheel and it immediately feel comfortable drifting around corners and driving way too fast without hitting anyone. The driving in the GTA3 engine games was so good. And oh lord was the shooting bad.

The writing is pretty hilarious especially the radio. "The councilwoman said she wouldn't be licked until she had the mayor on his knees." So outrageous.

I don't think I'm gonna finish this one. I just wanted a taste of that classic GTA. I know I'd be way too frustrated once I start getting to some of the difficult missions with the shitty old save system.

I guess I could comment on the visuals but wow the old engine was so smeary. Like you could barely tell what was going on sometimes. But that's as good as it got back then. And to be able to play this whole game on a PSP I remember being blown away playing this when it came out back in the day.
