Gears Of War
Review
What a classic. And after 15 years I've finally played through the whole game. Not much to review here. This is the game that created or at least popularized "cover-shooters". It also has some of the best most visceral feeling in a game. The camera shaking back and forth as you sprint to heighten the sense of speed. The sound of the chainsaw and the gore as you chainsaw someone in half. The guttural yell your character emanates as they do it. Beautiful stuff. And the shooting in general feels great.
Other than that I'd comment on how beautiful it is. Admittedly this is the remaster but still the environmental design and enemy design is very cool.
Story isn't much to write home about. But I do like them leaving off the mystery of who the Locust are and who's controlling them with the little bit of the human-looking lady at the end who seems to be controlling the Locust.
But yeah overall a great game. Looking forward to playing more in the series.
