Civilization II: Test of Time
Review

I sit here procrastinating on writing out a self-review for work, the ultimate in asinine drudgery and a true waste of time and money. For 8 year old me, Civilization II: Test of Time was a true waste of time and money. It amounts to Civ II except with some scenarios ripped from the excellent Fantastic Worlds and some updated menus and art. Today we'd call that a "remaster" but this was 1999 and the boys down in marketing hadn't cooked up that accursed term yet so this was just a whole new game. "Wow a whole new game", my naive child-mind full of wonder thought, only to be greeted with the same game I already had. I was probably only allowed to buy 5 games a year as a kid and this was one of them. Fuck you, MicroProse and Hasbro. I hope whoever greenlit this has to write pointless self-reviews that no one actually reads for all of eternity.

MicroProse y'all really repackaged Civ II and sold it to an 8 year old again with like two extra scenarios. Hell, one of those scenarios was in the Fantastic Worlds expansion which I already had. Fuck y'all.
Looking back at MicroProse's history it makes sense they'd release a remaster given they'd lost Sid Meier and were struggling financially. But c'mon, lads, robbing a poor helpless 8 year old?
???
Only played a bit of this. Didn't really understand the differences or engage with the fantasy stuff. Liked Fantastic Worlds way more.

Scoring it low because I resent wasting money on some dumb scenarios I didn't really like.
